Rihanna Talks About Father’s Addiction

Sure, we all have problems with our parents every now and then, but apparently Rihanna’s problems with her father, Ronald, were so bad, it caused hatred. According to Now, Rihanna’s dad was hooked on crack during her childhood.

“My dad was part of that Sixties generation who took drugs as a matter of course,’ she says. ‘But his partying got way out of hand, spiralled out of control.”

Ri says that when she was 9, her father left, but as a teen she realized that what he did was wrong. “It was only in my teenage years that I started to get angry at him, maybe even hated him. I started to realize that no child should have to experience what I’d been through.”

Ronald and daughter, Rihanna, have been mending their relationship and he’s stopped the drugs.

‘I will never forgive myself for what I did to my daughter,’ he says. ‘Unlike other dads who help their children with homework, I was out on street corners scoring more drugs.’

Wow. That would be very hard to go through. I can only imagine what having a father hooked on drugs would do to you. It’s such a conflict of moral. Usually the parents are the ones who should be discouraging the drugs and setting good examples. Good for her for staying away.
