MTV NEWS EXCLUSIVE: The Umbrella star tells us she didn’t copy Mrs Beck’s hair-do…
With Umbrella set to become the longest running number 1 single for a decade, Rihanna spoke exclusively to MTV News on the video set for her follow-up track Shut Up And Drive.
So why the sudden success? Is it just a great first track (admit it – we’re all singing “ells, ella, ella”), the golden touch of Jay-Z or maybe it’s got something to do with the stunning new look.
Rihanna explains: “It’s very edgy. It’s a lot different from how you’ve seen me before. The short hair, the attitude is very B-girlish. I have a lot of attitude now and I’m not afraid to let it out anymore. It definitely is a new me on this album!”
Whilst we were on set we tracked down the hair stylist responsible for the transformation to get the story behind the snip.
“We wanted to do something different,” she said. “So we came up with this idea and everybody loves it .
“We’ve heard of Victoria Beckham but we actually didn’t copy her. For Rihanna we gave her longer pieces in the front and added highlights to it so we didn’t copy her look – we have our own look going on”

nd anyway her new hair which is even shorter is lovley
